Your dedicated AdBlue® supplier

AdBlue is used to limit emissions from cars, trucks, buses, vans, boats, excavators and tractors. If you use a modern diesel-powered machine fitted with an SCR catalyst, you’ll need AdBlue.

AdBlue® Supplier

Vans, lorries, passenger cars…the majority of new diesel engines need AdBlue and if your engines are fitted with SCR catalysts, AdBlue is required to meet the standards for Euro 5 and Euro 6 diesel emissions.

AdBlue® from Certas Lubricant Solutions

AdBlue® reduces harmful nitrogen oxide emissions from diesel engines to ensure vehicles meet legislation requirements. AdBlue is a highly purified, colourless liquid and when injected into the catalyst of the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system, it triggers a chemical reaction with the ammonia. This then converts toxic nitrogen oxide (NOx) into nitrogen (N2) and water vapour (H20) that are harmless to the environment.

While there are cheaper alternatives available on the market, it’s important to use a product that meets the required standards. We supply customers with market-leading GreenChem and Yara Air1 AdBlue which is compliant with ISO 22241.  AdBlue can be purchased in cans, barrels, IBCs and bulk and with our national distribution network we can keep your business moving every day of the year.

Certas Lubricant Solutions sells all the kit you need to store and fill up with. Available in various pack sizes including 5 litres, 10 litres, 20 litres, 200 litres, 1,000 litres, IBCs, and Bulk. We can also supply rotary, lever barrel and electric pumps as well as a variety of storage and dispensing units.

AdBlue FAQs

Is AdBlue hazardous? There are no known hazardous properties of AdBlue. However, it is corrosive and can dissolve materials that are not listed as AdBlue proof in ISO 22241.

What happens if I run out of AdBlue? It’s critical that you keep your vehicle topped up with AdBlue and that you have an emergency supply available at all times. Not only could running out result in hefty fines, it could also prevent your engine from starting at all. Your engine would not be damaged from running out of AdBlue but it could affect performance and mean that it could be exceeding legal emission limits.

What is AdBlue?

AdBlue® is a highly purified colourless liquid. It contains demineralized water and urea (32.5%). It is used with diesel engines and is also known outside of Europe as DEF, ARLA 32 or AUS 32. The main active component of AdBlue® is ammonia. This is chemically formed by hydrolising automotive urea, which is the main raw material. AdBlue® is injected into the catalyst of the SCR system, where it triggers a chemical reaction with the ammonia. This chemical reaction converts the toxic nitrogen oxides (NOx) into nitrogen (N2) and water vapour (H2O). Water vapour and nitrogen are naturally occurring gases that are harmless to the environment.
