The journey of Vickers Oils began in 1808 when Mary Randall Vickers initiated the business. However, it was her son, Benjamin Vickers, who founded Vickers Oils in 1828 to trade oil and soaps to local wool and yarn processors.
Vickers Oils continued to invest in R&D to develop safer oils for yarn production, with ‘Heavy wool oil’ becoming a leading brand for decades.
The Vickers family used their knowledge of the oil industry to enter new markets. In 1882 Vickers Oil developed New Engine Oil (NEO) which was the forerunner of today’s world leading HYDROX BIO grades. This niche market has been retained and expanded.
The Vickers innovation continued throughout the 20th century with new products developed and markets explored. Fast forward to 2018, Vickers Oils diversified into the food grade industry as both suppliers and manufacturers of high-performance Food Grade Lubricants.
