With the continuing challenge of technician shortages, Castrol & The Race Group invested their time into driving interest to the automotive repair industry. The motor industry has the sixth highest vacancy rate of all UK sectors with workshop and technical roles being the hardest positions to fill. Castrol and The Race Group want to see these numbers improve & were really pleased to be asked to deliver a seminar to a group of students in Surrey.
Last month, @Dave & @Paul visited East Surrey College to deliver a presentation to 55 of their Engineering and Motor Vehicle students, focusing on Right Oil Right Car & the process of selecting the correct oil for each vehicle. Dave began the session by introducing our 3 Castrol engine products: GTX, Magnatec & Edge, explaining OEM approvals and how the oils operate and help the engine to function. The students were able to ask questions about the different oils’ purposes, advantages & what to consider when choosing the right oil for the right car. This led to a discussion on what would happen to the engine if the wrong oil was fitted & how to avoid this by using our look up tool.
The presentation also covered our Castrol Service programme and how the Race Group supports independent workshops with technical advice, branding options and online training. To end the session, Dave & Paul led a Q&A with the students and staff, finishing off with a goodie bag and some great feedback! Motor vehicle level 3 student, Mo, commented, “It was really interesting to learn about the different types of oils and how with the industry changing, oil companies are also making a shift.”
